ICF construction enables incredible design versatility, with blocks available in a variety of shapes and sizes, making it the perfect build choice for framing any style of building. From classic to contemporary, commercial to residential – Nudura ICF when finished with any cladding material provides sustainable living for future generations.

Buildings constructed with Nudura are some of the most energy-efficient structures. With two layers of insulation on either side of the solid concrete wall, a standard-thickness ICF assembly achieves a U-value of 0.16W/m2K (when utilising the XR35 system) with options to decrease this to achieve Passive House standards of insulation and airtightness.

The continuous insulation creates an airtight building envelope that eliminates the thermal bridging commonly associated with timber-framed buildings. This insulating power, combined with the thermal mass of concrete, helps Nudura walls regulate the interior temperature and reduce hot or cold drafts.

HVAC Considerations:

With best-in-class energy performance, it should come as no surprise that Nudura buildings will have some unique HVAC considerations. The airtight, highly insulated structure will thrive with small-sized heating and cooling equipment, which will not need to run as frequently as within a traditionally built home to maintain a comfortable and consistent indoor temperature.

Whilst designing your Nudura home, an engineer can help you determine the precise HVAC needs based on your project specifications. Underfloor heating is another great option for Nudura buildings, particularly when installed in “zoned systems”, meaning that you can just heat the rooms where it is required.

Selecting and installing a highly efficient mechanical system, will only improve your building's overall performance and provide long-term energy and cost savings.

Healthy Walls:

Due to the construction of an ICF building, occupants will also appreciate improved indoor air quality. Nudura’s ICF system contains no volatile organic compounds (VOCs). The forms and concrete are also moisture-resistant and inorganic, which in turn also minimises the risk of mould during the lifespan of the building.
